grain remixes !! ashworth s grain lp captured the imagination of many in the music world on its release last year. after releasing two original ep s from the album we get an excellent remix package from three leading lights in electronic music. what better way to wrap up his debut with needwant. the ep serves up three very different remixes all for a different occasion and mood. the ever reliable dorisbourg, who remains one half of the lauded genius of time, takes a laidback electronica approach but with techno at it s heart. newcomer kris davis and yost keep the original feel of cork but provide a sensual but progressive vibe. while simon haydo drives all the way to the end with his remix of fireworks. great production on show across the ep for the emerging producer ashworth.

this is the relaunch limited edition album (475 copies only, remastered from the original master tapes) of the male productions label. it contains theaoriginal songs of the true underground sound of rome from the rare and sought after ep released in 1991 on male records plus two unreleased tracks recorded in 1991. in italy during early 90 s after the disco era was time for the new born underground music movement. male productions represents the first italian electronic-house independent label, based in rome and managed by chicco furlotti, former club-dj and organizer of the early italian rave parties. this album features stefano di carlo and other big names from the italian electronic and house music scene like leo young and mauro tannino. we cant call this music as deep-house, ambient or techno because it s the true undergound sound of rome!

as per usual, jwb presents an ep of high quality. this time with the helping hand of t. ruggieri. one can appreciate the grand scale of sounds inside a very deep atmosphere. two great remixes as pablo inzunza (little helpers / highgrade) and gus & bonso (wrong state) tops such a fantastic release.

lets keep this short and sweet. were talking about felix dickinson and jaime read, neither of whom need much in the way of introduction, after all. three monsters here. acid-flecked, spacey, loopy stuff thats bold, assertive yet melodious, playful. these two have released enough on their own and together as l.h.a.s. inc. to make you know this is a badass 12inch, so whatre you waiting for? get it already itll never leave your bag, were sure.

get real is the new project from legendary producers, green velvet & claude vonstroke. the pair, hailing from chicago and detroit, headed out on the road together for a string of shows at the tail end of 2015. get real was born and vonstroke was soon heading to green velvets chicago studio to work on new music. the result of that trip is the debut get real ep featuring two slices of amazing future funk from two creative giants.

aladdin is an atypical project at versatile, even for versatiles standards. in the base, the group consisted of nicolas ker singer, chaotic poet (known from poni hoax, paris, and his solo project yet to emerge) and gilbert cohen, boss of the label. the two met in the studio after breaking up with their then-girlfriends, resulting in an album filled with inner pressure.

part two of fhloston paradigm (aka king britt) beautiful cosmosis ep series starts with the haunting broken techno of nimoy, bass line and subtle piano gently modulating over scissoring drum machines and dubbed out claps, the switches in rhythm and the layers of chugging drums catching you off beat. the track builds into a heart-tugging melody, the drums breaking up under it s force. return is a pure analogue brain massage of a track, a deep space exploration of undulating arpeggios and shimmering emotive notes. the hour finishes the record, slow building waves of melody and chords, shimmer and swell, the repetition and addition of a mournful bass line consolidate the emotional energy of the track.

technosoul .03 comes from blazej malinowski, who has previously released on swedish phorma and canadian silent season amongst others. “mika” and “open closed open” might serve as blazej s sound signature – deeply rooted, hypnotic techno with a trance edge, which works both on the dancefloor and in comfort of one s home. remix number one comes from the legendary british dj and producer steve bicknell, whose take on “mika” is raw and very dense at once – it serves as the most brutal piece of music on the release. remix number two comes from “the mad ukrainian” stanislav tolkachev, whose vision strikes as a real surprise. instead of his usual beats stampede, he has provided the record with a beautiful, ethereal offbeat techno: this won t probably work as a peak time monster, but with a proper audience, it will have a mesmerizing effect!

our little dirt crew sub label spiel started out in late 2013 with three excellent releases, the first two by clancy featuring remixes by urulu and prins thomas followed by a stellar ep from mercury. after a hiatus spiel is back for 2016.

italian rudeboy ivan iacobucci brings his brand of lowdown funk-influenced tech house to apollonia with this sterling three-tracker. over two decades of hard work and dedication to his craft has culminated in ivan’s untainted reputation and widespread respect within the underground from true heads like zip and, of course, the apollonia boys. his love of jazz in evident throughout this ep which is full of subtlety and depth, pulsating b-lines and smooth chords are interlaced with razor-sharp percussion and delicate keys. the first track ‘old in on’ has a laid back, though driving, groove, pushing forward with a hefty bassline that is perfectly counterbalanced by the light twinkling keys and barely-there pads. ‘scris frumos’ encapsulates more of an ominous, tribal feeling with intricate effects trickling through every pore of its deep, dark exterior. its atmospherics keep you intrigued, voices echo in the background and a few moments of softened chimes really intensify the already mysterious vibe. ‘mini ass’ channels more of that electro-funk that forms the foundation of ivan’s love for music, haywire radio pulses prance around stuttered beats, giving it a slightly cosmic feel, while pipes add a more organic nuance to the track. absolutely masterful work from ivan, and another inspired addition to the apollonia catalogue.

fifth -hors-serie- release for serie limitee s sub-label. 99letters has been part of the japanese electronic underground scene for a while, he started producing chiptunes using a nintendo gameboy and it naturally took him to raw deep-house and techno after purchasing a couple of machines. the a side is pure deepnees with two original tracks from osaka s maestro, while the b side is reserved to some downtempo and techno remixes by serie limitee s founders steve frisco & monsieur cedric. 10-, vinyl-only, limited to 300 hand-numbered copies.

israeli-born berlin based producer and dj omer debuts his first release on cocktail d amore with two offerings of celestial house. the title cut blends the sounds of the east with an immediately seductive atmosphere of bright melodies leaving the listener plenty of room to be transfixed through it s entirety. -dust- dives deeper to reveal a more melancholic mood built on a symphony of lush pads and swirling metallic percussion. on remix duties are the wonderfully quirky estonian duo ajukaja & andrevski who deliver an oddball re-imagining which sends the original into outer space as it gently builds to sparkling fervor only heard on the outskirts of galaxies. rounding out the release is man power with an acid tinged burner which explodes into en excitement of live percussion and pads leaving any dance floor in complete ecstasy.

a-side is for paying respect! librarian samples these classics from the library and delivers two exquisite pumping house tunes. tape003 is gets you through a dreamy ride while -bronx key- brings in the classic 909 vibes! the other side delivers originals from strip steve and straydogpalace which follow absolutely no rules. -last one and i m out continues developing the dream from -tape 003- while one bedroom apartment is just in its own galaxy of sonic experiences. words are irrelevant, music speaks for wxtfx001.

killer deep spaced out electro tracks!!! over 20 years ago shad t. scott and his pal seven set up isophlux records, miamis infamous first electronic imprint releasing, as they put techno, electro, funk, experimental, and anything good. now in year 2016, shad under his gosub alias releases this sunday at battle ship key titled ep for barba records, staying true to that initial principle. its far away from just being good though, its beautiful and warm electronic music at its best, oozing chill and feel good moods. original two tracks are accompanied with a remix by second time appearing on barba - jtc aka tadd mullinix who this time nicely surprised us with his ol school ny style house beauty. overall one fine classic record this, period.

with a passion for disco, italo, chicago house and detroit techno patrizio cavaliere aka rocco universal has been collecting music for the last two decades and it’s these musical influences that have shaped his raw, tripped out disco/house production sound. ‘tiny islands’, his debut release for leng, is a real melting pot of rich melodies over a thick baseline and is a clear example of rocco’s passion for the dancefloor. with something as multi layered and deep as the original track it needed ray mang to add his trademark sound to the remix. here he goes straight for the jugular drawing out some of the loops and percussion leaving no mistake as to when this should be dropped on the dancefloor.

one of tim love lees favourite nyc djs, eugene tambourine, has brought his considerable production talents to these two impeccable club classics - inner citys 1988 house anthem *in the good life*, and laurie andersons moody 1984 album cut *blue lagoon*.

local talk release number 66 moves in deeper territories with a duo that needs no further introduction, greg dowling, shane johnson aka fish go deep. these two fine gents have been releasing music for more than two decades. both greg & shane played an integral part in the emergence of house music in cork city between the years of 1988 and 2001 as their well renowned sweat night at sir henrys helped to attract a host of talent, such as kerri chandler, laurent garnier, dj deep, glenn underground, derrick may just to name a few. it s a big, big honour to have them on aboard for this debut on local talk. first track, off script, takes us straight back to the days of prescription. the driving kick and bassline, warm pads and a hypnotic melody line that crescendos throughout the track keeping you hooked from start to finish. on the flip, northern reach, follows on the same theme. it hits deep, the strings adds that extra bit of drama and again showing the duo s skill in creating perfect atmospheric and timeless deep house. you wouldn t be surprised to hear dixon drop this in a dj set.

the second offering from no more to roam, comes from one half of 2deepsoul, rai scott. a 3 track ep of low slung, sultry beats. clarinet moods, the eps namesake, comes in two different cuts both with the clarinet skills of rai herself, the melody mix is real nod to the afterhours, subtle drums & a haunting clarinet lick, while the lazy dub a little more upbeat, still has that afterhours vibe, carried with the clarinet & simple percussions, closing things up here is move to the front built for the dancefloor, a rolling bassline & synth, layered over a rolling percussion makes up the final cut.

smeur continues it’s journey into melodic trippy house. the third release features two artists take on a track from the same starting point. both sides are based on the same set of samples. but while side a reminisces early orbital in its theme side b is a somber excursion into another subterranean world. both tracks will keep the floor interested with it’s different approach to house music.

chupacabras and brother y join forces to form the debut vinyl release from tutamen. brooklyn resident and elusive production talent chupacabras offers up two machine-powered cosmic cuts, expanding upon the territory explored with his contributions to the tutamen tape series and last years ep for go finger. the as-yet unknown brother y makes a first appearance with two hypnotic numbers on the b-side.

altered moods recordings makes its first artist foray into asia, more specifically, it sets its sights on nagano, japan, where it finds a fertile and quickly expanding underground scene and one of its key players, yoshiki tsuchiya, also known as miruga. miruga has made a big splash in his relatively short arc as an underground artist. he came out strong in 2012 with human tube on anton zaps bellwether ethereal sound label after a full-length digital album on logos recordings two years prior.

here we present you a very special ep. riverettes first record of 2016 is a very special one indeed,comprised of two special tracks made by two very special artists. we have been holding onto this one for quite a while as we were afraid putting this two tracks on one record would be overkill, but screw it! - we have never believed there is such a thing as too much awesomeness.
side a sees legowelt doing an edit kind of song in the most legowelt way possible and its not even an edit. the result ... craziness my friends, as can only be done by the mad man himself.
side b is quite a different beast, and one that is quite dear to our heart, as it is the debut of local producing duo dos attack. not ones to release much info about themselves we only know that their debut track was so good it was decided to be put on the other side of a legowelt track.

in the space of two short years shlømo has quickly established himself alongside the likes of marcelus, bambounou, francois x and the antinote records crew as a key figure in paris’ current techno generation. having established his own taapion records label in 2013 and built a roster around a core of local producers including roman poncet, pvnv and antigone, in addition to enlisting stephen brown, conforce and sterac as remixers for the label’s releases so far. for its fifth release, bright sounds - run by fellow parisian kennedy smith - revisits last year’s rechaïm ep (bsrx003), with a trio of remixers offering their own takes on shlømo’s established deep and expansive sound. first up is the aforementioned 50 weapons artist bambounou, who offers a dynamic groove-based version of the title track that bounces along an elastic kick drum with cut-up fragments of the original’s atmospheric pads providing further impetus. label owner kennedy smith takes on theory is the worst by bringing its dub textures to the for while filling the track’s empty spaces with intricate drum patterns. finally, italian techno pioneer donato dozzy turns grounded queen into a classic dozzy slow-burning techno trip, with his trademark layered sound complimenting the track’s subtle rhythmic backbone.
